Two named for the Wayne Binversie Award

This year will have two distinguished Administrators awarded the Dedicated Administrator Award for 2023: Joseph Cunningham of Milwaukee Barbarians and Matthew Goetsch of Green Bay Rugby.

The Wayne Binversie Award is given to a current administrator of a Member Club or the Union who has proved their devotion to maintaining, developing, and promoting their club, the union, or Rugby.

Nomination for Joseph Cunningham

Joe has been a tireless supporter of rugby in Wisconsin for 3+ decades. After playing with the Milwaukee Harlequins, he moved on to administration of the club and the Lakefront 7s. He helped guide the clubs transition to the Milwaukee Barbarians, and continues to volunteer at the Lakefront 7s, organising the youth divisions and scheduling the matches for the contact divisions. Joe has organised the Waukesha Tag rugby program for the last 12 years, helped at numerous High School matches while his daughter attended Catholic Memorial, helped coach and organise tag rugby referees, and currently organises bimonthly touch rugby for local Old Boys in the Milwaukee region. Joe is one of the kindest, most devoted and generous people in the rugby community. I believe he is a deserving candidate for this award and I hope you consider him.

Nomination for Matthew Goetsch:

No person has done more for a region, not just a city, but a region than Matt has for northeast Wisconsin. Elected to the Green Bay Rugby Hall of Fame in the first ever ejected class. Single handedly started youth rugby in the area. I promise you, no one deserves this not than Skinny.
